Ruth Cubillo Paniagua

Full Professor at the Escuela de Filología, Lingüística y Literatura and the Graduate Program in Literature of the University of Costa Rica (UCR). For more than 20 years, she has been a professor for undergraduate and graduate programs. She has directed more than 20 theses, she has developed several research projects on topics such as gender, Costa Rican literature, Central American literature and comparative literature. She has also work on several projects on social action, among which we find the radio program Mis lecturas por la radio. She also has promoted the development of new areas of research and teaching at UCR, especially in comparative literature and the transmediality and has done inter- and transdisciplinary research. She has been guest professor in several universities such as Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, España; Leibniz Universität Hannover, Alemania; Universidad de Nantes, Francia; Universidad de Burdeos, Francia; Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, España and Universidad de la República, Uruguay. Among her publications we find Mujeres e identidades. Las escritoras del Repertorio Americano (1919-1959), EUCR (2001); Mujeres ensayistas e intelectualidad de vanguardia en la Costa Rica de la primera mitad del siglo XX, EUCR (2011); Novelistas españolas del siglo de oro: la obra de Mariana de Carvajal y Saavedra, EUCR (2014); Historia y crítica comparadas de la dramaturgia costarricense de 1950 a 1980. Una lectura desde la perspectiva de género, CIHAC-UCR, en coautoría con Olga Marta Mesén (2019); Estudios actuales de literatura comparada: teoría de la literatura y diálogos interdisciplinarios, (coeditora junto a Ronald Campos),UCR/SEP, 2019, y Pobreza y la desigualdad social en la narrativa costarricense: 1890-1940. Colección Bicentenario (ECR/EUCR, 2021). She also has published serveral articles in national and international journals.
